I'm an Australia-based Kiwi writer-director who has spent twenty years travelling to the edges of the world to find stories worth telling — from Syrian refugee camps to the trail of Mexican drug cartels, remote Nepalese monasteries to the front lines of modern slavery. That restlessness and that appetite for human truth are in everything I make.
My latest short film In Absence — starring Christopher James Baker (Ozark, True Detective) and Jack LaTorre (Lost Flowers of Alice Hart) — won the Grand Jury Prize at Richmond International Film Festival 2025 and Best Drama at Ignite Film Festival, screening at Oscar and BAFTA qualifying festivals internationally. My feature documentary Evil Good is a true-crime film following a Phoenix vice detective whose investigation leads him to the front door of his own family. I'm currently in production on Fire Riders, a six-part documentary series with WildBear Entertainment and supported by Screen Queensland.
I'm developing three original narrative feature films — including Old Boys, based on my own father's involvement in the greatest upset in the Chatham Cup's hundred-year history. I'm also a member of Craft Services, the select writer-director mentorship program run by Hollywood producer Nicky Weinstock (Severance, Escape at Dannemora, Bridesmaids).
My short film work has been recognised with three wins at the Young Director Award at Cannes Lions — the most significant emerging director platform at the international creativity festival — as well as awards at Ciclope and Kinsale Sharks. Much of that work was made for humanitarian organisations including World Vision, Compassion International and A21 — documenting stories across forty countries that most filmmakers never get close to.
I’ve also helmed commercial campaigns for brands like Land Rover, University of Sydney, Suncorp, Thankyou and QUT.
I'm drawn to stories about people navigating the distance between who they were told to be and who they actually are.
